Should we consider screencasting or podcasting as assistive technology?
We should absolutely include screencasting and podcasting as assistive technology in our classrooms!  It is affordable and it motivates students since they now require so much visual stimulation.   A variety of students would be motivated because all students can watch or listen to a podcast and react to it in a variety of ways.  Teachers can tweak lessons in order to give students multiple means of representation of the materials/directions: visual and audio, as well as exemplary.  Students can respond through multiple means of action and expression.  Students can also respond through podcasts showing what they have learned and expanding their answers to be more creative and applicable to real life.  They can speak, point, or audio record over their video to make adjustments to their presentations.  They can also add text to their videos to communicate if they have issues with speech or presentation anxiety.
